Sheet Material Sizes, Thicknesses & Pallet Delivery Explained
Ordering sheet materials is easier when you know the standard sizes, how thickness is described, and how pallet delivery works. Here is a quick reference for trade buyers.
Standard sheet sizes
Most boards are sold in nominal imperial sizes that map to metric dimensions:
- 8x4 — 1220 x 2440mm. The standard sheet for plywood, MDF, OSB and chipboard.
- 10x4 — 1220 x 3050mm. A longer board for fewer joints on bigger runs.
- 10x5 — 1525 x 3050mm. Extra width and length for large panels.
- 8x2 — approx. 600 x 2400mm. Common for tongue-and-groove flooring boards.
Some specialist boards vary slightly (for example 15mm OSB3 at 1197 x 2397mm), so always check the exact dimensions on the product page.
How thickness works
Thickness is given in millimetres and drives both strength and price. Thin boards (3–6mm) suit linings, backing and panelling; mid boards (9–18mm) cover general sheeting and flooring; thick boards (21–25mm+) are for heavy structural work and door blanks. Thicker boards span further and feel more solid, but weigh more and cost more.

How pallet delivery works
All Sheets sells by the full pallet at trade prices, with delivery across London and the South East — and no trade account application to fill in. Buying a complete pallet keeps the per-sheet cost down and gets a full load to site in one drop. The bigger the order, the better the per-sheet price.
